I use it to keep kitchen cabinet doors from popping open in the wind or when there are naughty children in the house. The magnetism is very strong, allowing the door to close very tightly but still open easily when needed.
The latch holds the cabinet doors closed very firmly, but opens smoothly and easily. I have installed it on bookcases, dressers, and drawers, and all work perfectly.
